Television is full of loved up couples we all aspire to be like. In the spirit of Valentines Day I have compiled a list of my top 4 favourite on screen twosomes.
4. Sheldon and Amy (The Big Bang Theory)
Amy Farrah Fowler and Sheldon Cooper aren’t exactly your most conventional couple, but I think they’re one of the sweetest. The fact that irrational, anti-social Sheldon has actually found somebody who he can, and will, call his girlfriend. These two are certainly an odd couple, but that’s what makes them so perfect for each other.
3. Tom and Lynette (Desperate Housewives)
Some may find this choice to be a bit odd, considering their break up in the most recent season, but Tom and Lynette Scavo were the only Desperate Housewives couple to last 7 seasons without breaking up. This may not seem like a massive achievement, but considering the amount of break ups, affairs and murders that went on in this show it says a lot about their relationship. Tom and Lynette were the only couple on the street that I thought would never separate, because their love for each other and their children seemed so unconditional. They’ve had their ups and downs, but they stayed strong in situations where it would have been easier to just give up. Even though they did separate in the end, their on screen relationship was still the longest, and I think there’s still hope for the feisty pair yet.
2. Lily and Marshall (How I Met Your Mother)
Coming in at number 2 are one of the most loveable couples on television. How I Met Your Mother’s Marshall and Lily are the perfect match. Even though they had that rough patch in season 2, they came back stronger than ever and are perfect for eachother. They know what one and other like, don’t like and their little traditions like meeting each other at the airport with a name plaque and a six pack are just what make this couple so darn cute.
1. Booth and Brennan (Bones)
This relationship made my number one spot because it felt the most real. It wasn’t just a guy and a girl who get together straight away like in most shows, it took 6 seasons for them to finally hook up. And boy was it a long time coming! Their clashing personality traits were fascinating to watch and, even though they are so different in so many ways, they are so similar in others. These differences make their scenes together so watchable as they teach each other so much and we grow with the characters. I found myself just wishing these two together as the seasons went on and I know I wasn’t the only one who cheered when they finally confessed their love for each other.
